Seven Overtimes later….

On November 3, 2001, the Arkansas Razorbacks took a 58-56 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels after a record seven overtimes.

The score at the end of regulation the score stood at 17 and neither team was going to give in easy. Almost every overtime brought both teams up in points scored, but neither seemed to be able to pull away to finish the game. The winning quarterback was Matt Jones who had a short career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Zak Clark started as quarterback for the Razorbacks.  Eli Manning, New York Giants starter, took the loss for the Rebels.

Now, the record is shared with the 2003 game when the Razorbacks were hosted by the Kentucky Wildcats. The final score was 71-63 in favor of the Razorbacks. There has yet to be a college level game with more than seven overtimes, but there was a high school game with 12 overtimes in 2010. It lasted five hours, ending around one in the morning.
